How do we Remove Stumps
This video shows how our Bandit 4×4 remote controlled stump grinder tackles a medium sized oak stump.
Before any removal of a stump the ground is checked for any underground services that maybe present. We do this by using a CATscan tool that identifies locations of buried services, such as electricity cables, telephone lines and fibre optics. The area around the stump is then guarded with specialised barriers which helps contain the arisings that are produced.
The machine that you can see in the video has a diesel engine that powers hydraulics which rotates a large cutting wheel at the front at very high speeds !. On this particular wheel there are 18 cutting teeth arranged at slightly different angles and depths. You will notice that the head sweeping across the stump and every time it makes a pass, the head will drop down and grind the lower material. The machine advances forward mechanically grinding the main root plate of the tree until the stump has been removed.
The left over saw dust is normally mixed with the soil during the process and either left to fill the hole back in for replanting or used as mulch in other areas of the garden. We can also remove the waste if you wish, this of course will all be specified before commencement of works.
